Black and Decker Steamer (2010-05-09)
I have used a previous and similar model Black and Decker Steamer almost daily for many years with great success, until the plastic tub finally cracked. It was more cost effective to simply purchase a second complete steamer rather than to purchase just the plastic tub. I found the model that most resembled the original steamer that served me so well, then shopped around for the best price, which I found on Amazon. I received this item on only a few days from Amazon and began using it immediately. The only issue I have with this model is that in comparison to the first model I used , this one is made with thinner and less strong plastic for the tub, and the white plastic lid is also made with less quality plastic material in strength and durability. I attribute this to cost saving efforts on the part of Black and Decker, which has made this product less durable than the original model I used for years. It is a shame that this fabulous product and great company has to resort to cost cut backs by using poorer quality materials, which of course is only my opinion and observation. But having said this, I use this product daily, and it works well and I would buy it again only because it is simple to use, low maintenance, easy to clean and serves the purpose that I intended. The design is slightly changed from the original model I had used, and I some of the new features are better, but some of the new features are not as good. Overall I liked my older previous model better than this newer model, but the older model is no longer available. The flavor scenter is great to use too.
Love it! (2010-05-02)
We had an earlier model of this steamer for over 17 years and it worked perfectly. Since we have hard water in our area, we finally got too much of a calcium buildup on the heating element so we sadly had to say bye-bye to it, then we purchased this similar product and have used it many times and love it just as much. We mostly use it for rice, but it works great for vegetables too. We are very happy with this steamer and have also purchased one for each of our daughters.

We have just used this steamer once, to cook green beans for an Easter crowd at our house, and we can report it did an excellent job, cooking the green beans just right.
perfect rice every time (2010-03-22)
I've had this rice cooker / veggie steamer for several years now and have been getting perfect results every time. Although I've never used it for veggies - or for anything other than rice - the setup is simple and the outcome predictable. I only wish it took less storage space and had an option for cooking a larger amount of rice, since the default amount is excellent for 6 people as a side dish or for 3 or 4 as part of a main dish. Also, due to a strong preference for unflavored rice I've never used the Flavor Scenter Screen, but judiciously adding favorite herbs or spices to veggies or rice definitely could enhance the outcome. Highly recommended!

I've been looking for a steamer like this for almost a year -- and I'm glad I waited until I got the BEST! Great performance; great price.
